Thanks for all the feedback and the offers of assistance. Much appreciated. I think I need to give some serious consideration to signing up at the Northern. I have just checked on Google maps and it will take no more than 20 mins from my house to the course which is pretty convenient.

Gee, that is tight. Unless the winner gets a 3 course meal for two.

There is a wednesday comp as a standalone day (usually about 200) and the weekly comp that can be entered at any time. It usually gets 70 runners.

Medway in Maidstone might be worth a look too. Depending on which part of Brunswick you’re in, it’s probably no more than 25mins away.
I’ve never played Northern so don’t know how it stacks up, but I’ve always found Medway to be a decent track. Aside from two stupidly long and boring par 3’s I think it’s a good place to play.
Medway have a program called “Medway Mates” which gives good access to the course outside of peak times for green fee rates. It’s free to join so if you wanted to have a couple of rounds to see for yourself how you like the layout and facilities this might be a good way to do it. My experience is that you get a bit more of a candid view of the place, without the sales pitch as you can kind of come and go as you please, pending tee availability.

Apart from the bunkers which provide their own set of challenges.
How is Mt Derrimut a toilet?
Clubhouse and views are great staff great, layout interesting enough, wind challenging.
Club is also not stuck in the 1830's

Tend to agree, the land has a few issues being reclaimed industrial land but the course layout is great. I have only played it a couple of times but have really enjoyed it. Staff have always been helpful.
Definitely worth a look depending on travel time etc.

Small people find it a challenge to be funny with the in jokes at times here. It was on our OOM schedule for a while and some members are iseekers.

Beats Dorset.
