Well well. Looks like nothing has changed around here. Make a post that does not agree with certain peoples opinions and you get S$@t canned.

Situation normal.

I saw a ball bounce off the stick and stay out of the hole this week and it wasn't a hard hit.  But most just drop in.

Just another cheating way to stop the ball rolling over the hole if you hit it too hard

Surely the type of flag stick will also make a difference on whether ball bounces out.

some clubs have fibreglass flags other clubs have flags that are wooden top with metal base in cup.

I think golfas will over time find their own style on this, some will like leaving flag in for all putts while others will putt with flag out.

At moment I like to putt with flag in for Long putts and out for short ones.

I recently noticed some different flagsticks on par 3s.  Ruler measurements on them, thick & heavy, possibly steel. The ball could get quite a rebound.

Make sure that it is not attended. If the flag stick is being held when he ball strikes it, it incurs a penalty.

Flagsticks are fibreglass plain, fibreglass pvc coated, or timber wrapped in aluminium, from my experience, that does not count for the thousands of clubs in regional areas that may use whatever they have on hand.... 18mm electrical conduit in one case

I've also seen conduit used but not in my area.

Isn't it more the base is the flag stick? Some have chunky metal attachments to the actual fibreglass or whatever main flagstick. What's the ball hit? Flagstick or base attached?

And.

I started leaving the flagstick in during my practice rounds late last year and continued doing so this year. Haven't had any competition rounds, but the few social rounds I found the group confused.

If it was out, I'd leave it out. But, think I prefer it left in now, even for the closer ones.
