Where'd you hear that one?

It's part of the new rules. Not knowing the exact wording, but essentially if it's wedged up against the flag and would drop, it is considered holed.

So the same as it used to be where you shift the flag and it drops then it's fine?

Don't think it has to drop below the ground level now, just has to be inside the cup area and stable.

Love taking it out, the less objects in the way of the cup the better. How many will leave the flag in, have the ball jam between pole and cup and retrieve their ball without the ball coming to rest in the bottom of the cup, and count that ??..?

Ball doesn't have to fully go into the hole and underground now, according to the new rules ?
Jon...

Jon and Goldy are correct. The ball no longer has to be completely below the surface of the green. It didn't have to be 'at the bottom of the hole' before, just below the surface.

There's been so much advertising about the new/modified rules, how can anyone with a modicum of interest not be aware of them?

So the difference is you don't have to move the flag to let it drop now I take it? You can just pick it up when it's resting on then flag?

Can't say I've seen this one advertised, not that it makes any practical difference.

Not a fan tbh. I tried to putt out with flag in to speed up play and ended up 3 putting twice in 1 round. Not saying it was entirely the flags fault. Obviously the flag did not putt but I just couldn't putt with it in. Will be taking it out from now on if I'm close to flag.

Think it's best utilized when you've chipped up too a foot and you can just tap it in etc.
