Don't think anyone will ask to put it back in once it's out

Not necessarily disagreeing but there is no stats in that article.

I'm always skeptical about articles that talk about tests and stats but then don't provide any reference to them (or even mention them for that matter).

I just gave the article the benefit of the doubt that it was just a column filler rather than a technical report which should detail the tests and resultant stats.

The article was otherwise confirming some pretty common sense, if you've whacked the ball that was otherwise going to go way past, hitting something to make the ball not go way past will help you.

Has 2019 schedule been finalised yet

We still have to finalise information on the material constitution of the flagsticks at each venue.  Schedule coming soon - probably early December.

Saw many people using this yesterday. A couple guys in my group gave it a go on a few holes but did away with it. I’m not sure there’s any advantage in it other than someone on the green and ready to putt can now do so while the others are still arriving at the green without having to remove the pin.

I am curious though why there hasn’t been a rule brought in to get relief from playing from a divot hole in the fairway. Happened to me twice yesterday, once in a layup area about 90m from the green, the result? A low shot that ran through the green but thankfully sunk the par putt so no damage but the other one was a drive to a spot about 130m out and in a partially washed away, sanded divot, made the approach difficult to control. I get that it’s been part of the game but IMO it’s an unfair penalty for a good shot.

Been watching the PGA event the last few days, good to see a lot of pros playing from day outside 40 feet with flags in on the green. A few working from inside 20 as well. I think if over half the players get on board it will have a decent impact on speed for amateur golf.

Also on the divots they spoke about the why's and why nots. The biggest point they had in why not was that how far does it go, a fresh sanded, 3 days recovered, a week, a month, a unidentifiable imperfection that could be a old divot. The case for arguments and more rulings and time wasting would be well up.

Love taking it out, the less objects in the way of the cup the better. How many will leave the flag in, have the ball jam between pole and cup and retrieve their ball without the ball coming to rest in the bottom of the cup, and count that ??..?

Ball doesn't have to fully go into the hole and underground now, according to the new rules ?

I've sunk two putts with the flag in both from 20+ feet. Not game to do it on the short ones and one of the long ones nearly came out today so I'm unsure about there being any advantage to it really.
