I‘m looking at joining a top tear course Huntingdale gc at $10000 joining fee with poa dominant bent grass greens.

They have plans of renovating greens, is it worth joining?

I’ve heard they are talking with other clubs to merge with. Financial troubles...

Can anyone help me?

In this day and age, why would anyone blow $10K to join a golf club?
Unless you're rolling in money and don't mind at all if you make such a donation that may only provide a short term benefit.

No offense here mate.

But if you are worried about a clubs joining fee, you are looking in the wrong place.

If you are willing till play that sort of coin, do your homework well.

Look at the sand belt club that you are interested in. Then look again. Real hard

Huntingdale, from all accounts have struggled.

Just do your research

it's not like you to pass comment on how someone should or shouldn't spend their own money.

oh wait....

I would have thought $10k to join Huntingdale was good value. Awesome course.

Pass comment, yes.  But he can choose to spend whatever he likes on whatever he wants to.

Surely no need.  At their membership rates, carts would be free to members.  Aren't they?

but can they then take their free cart to play at other courses?

that would be a critical piece of information to know when deciding to join or not

Yes, but you can't tie up your horse in the car park

The talks that happened several months ago with the National, fell over and haven't been revisited since. I haven't heard of any other clubs that might be interested.

The latest...all typical sand belt courses are at least $10k joining fee.

Yes there has been 2 previous discussions of merger but negotiations broke down.

Today the latest is Adrian Barr from National had talks with committee at Huntingdale just recently.

Long term vision from my source is that they will acquire Huntingdale as per long history of former Huntingdale members establishing The National and member survey at Huntingdale outlined that 76% of members want potential of a merger.

They will then go after Metropolitan.

2 other options...if metro were smart they would merge with Huntingdale? If not the National will move in.

Good chance with current reciprocal arrangements with Yarra Yarra they could merge?
