Talking today about missed opportunities on the course during a round, and how it effected your chances of winning your grade or the days event. Today I finished 4 in gross and was only 4 off winning. IF I had dropped the 3 birdie putts I missed and maybe only had double on the first instead of quad, I could have won the grade.

My question is this, how many of you have won a day or grade event and had missed opportunities to have a better score than you did.???

Bloody hell....where do I start?        Just one that comes to mind........lost an OOM count-back once when I hit a 2 foot putt into the back of the hole...it hit the metal edge and bounced back out.

2 that stand out for me (I've never broken par for 18 holes). Doubled the first 2 at Camden Lakeside before finishing the day 3 over. I was 1 under standing on 18 at Lynwood (a 100m par 3 that day) and choked my way to a bogey, leaving the putt an inch short right in the jaws.

So, let me understand your question fully ... You're looking for situations when an event or grade was WON but, still could have had a better score (due to missed opportunities).

Have I got that correct?

I’ve done exactly the same at Camden Lakeside; in reverse. I was standing on the 18th tee at even par, then proceeded to hook the ears off my drive into the water on the left hand side near the big tree. Ended up taking 6, but still to this day, it’s my second best round ever. Best was an even par round at Penrith - which was helped by a pitch in on the 17th from about 60 out for eagle.
