Labuschagne might have some potential as a spinning all-rounder but his first-class record (at least at this stage) indicates that he is not Test Match calibre at this stage of his career. By playing him at No. 6 he throws the entire balance of the team out. You can't have your No. 6 at Test level averaging around the low-30's at First Class level.

While I think he has potential, there is no way he should be keeping someone the calibre of Matt Renshaw out of the batting line up. While it was a courageous draw, it shouldn't mask the fact that our batting was fragile again on a track that was fairly flat against a bowling attack that shouldn't scare anyone on a Day 2 and 3 pitch (Day 5 it might though!). The addition of Renshaw would really strengthen our batting line up and he really needs to come back in for the second Test.

Although I guess you could have the same argument about Mitch Marsh who also averages in the low-30's at First Class level and even worse than that at Test level!

The days of guys averaging mid-40's in Sheffield Shield for years on end demanding selection in the Baggy Green appear to be a thing of the past............I blame 20-20 cricket!

Yes batting order is out of place but being put under extra pressure by the performance of S Marsh

Would have had Renshaw in 1st test team apart from his concussion episode..... Either opening or at 3

Loosebuschange looks like a long term plan by the selectors and M Marsh might be a shade concerned about his spot

True Loosebuschanges figures at the moment don't make for headlines but he must have shown something to the selectors to get a jig and who knows what his future holds...

20-20 cricket has a lot to answer for..... look no further than the Windies side..... Hetmyer (spelling) blistering in short game, made to look like a park cricketer in test against India

Opener has potential, though 50 over cricket is different from shield cricket. Will be interesting to see how he goes in the longer version of the game...

India has unearthed an opener in P Shaw who has smashed the Windies attack to all parts in the 2 tests.... Will be interesting to see how he goes on a wicket with grass on it

GOAT on a minefield

Plus the Pakis cashing in on some spot betting.

Didn't look like getting a wicket last week other than from boredom.

Australia will not make 200 on this wicket. When it turns sideways for GOAT it will be unplayable with real spinners bowling.

The GOAT has already started bowling medium pace to stupidly try to improve his average.

Been watching a bit of the JLT cup, the Vics, NSW and QLD are all rubbish but a very impressive hundred by 18 year old Jack Edwards last night was great to watch. Not sure where Austin Waugh is, has Mouldy's backing led him to insignificance?

Jack Edwards got his first ton in Shield cricket yesterday, definitely one for an Australian side of some sort in the future if he keeps playing with that sort of confidence and ability.

With Oz looking for a gun all rounder you may have noticed that Warner went cheaply today in Grade Cricket. The bowler was Austin Waugh.

Don't say I didn't tell you.
