I would never buy one for myself, but one of my regularly playing partners has one and it is mighty handy sometimes.

Yep pretty much my thoughts as well. No way would I have one of these in my bag but if my ball is in the pond and I can't reach it with my wedge I have no hesitation getting my mate with his ball retriever to scoop it out for me.

I don't understand. What's wrong with carrying a ball retriever? It's only used on rare occasions but does allow one to recover their ball and be absolutely certain (not just virtually so) that the ball was in a WH.

It's not as though you have to give up a club out of your 14.

Nothing is wrong with it. I don't think anyone actually minds that some old mates carry them around.

It's kind of like showing up a tee box with a spare ball in your pocket though isn't it? You don't need one (spare ball or a ball retriever) if you don't hit it in the piss in the first place. :)

Also some blokes don't use them "rarely" either. I see plenty of guys routinely fishing at every water hazard they walk past.

I think we've just solved the riddle of why your handicap has been sliding backwards.

Single figure golfers don't have ball retrievers. Good god man, have some self respect. :)

Just so I’m clear, is it related to the fact he uses the word “chuffed”.
