AAA,

Thanks for the link. There is a LOT now available. My first impressions are it’s very well done.
I have downloaded the APP onto my iPad. It seems quite user friendly. There are many visual offerings.
There is nothing quite like seeing stuff.

I decided I should work out how to use what is available now to use a PC

It is fairly easy once you get used to it.

Sequence

1) Go to www.randa.org

At top of page see from left "The Rand A" then  "The Rules"

2) Hover the cursor over The Rules

This will show Rules Modernisation at the top of the second Column

3) Click on Rules Modernisation

4) Track down a short distance to "Search and Browse Rules of Golf on the Website"

5) Click on Website

This displays from the left

Rules of Golf

Player's Edition

Definitions

Interpretations

and a few more headings

Browse what you want.

Once there select the item of interest

It is possible to copy and paste material from there to a Word  Document, for example.

Our club have decided to leave theOOB rule as it is

There is no change to the rule, simply an option to use an additional Local Rule on selected holes in appropriate situations.

Which, as indicated, his club have chosen not to use, hence leaving it as is.  But why pass up a chance for some pedantry.

As a matter of interest, is there a document for those who would simply be happy to carry on under the current rules?

For example, if I drop the ball from shoulder height will I be penalized?

Yes, it will be a one stroke penalty for not dropping correctly.  The "current Rules" expire on December 31, 2018, being replaced by the new Rules.

Will be interesting to see how many people incorrectly drop the ball in the first few months of 2019.

There are people I've played with recently who had no idea the rules were even changing so could be a bit of a chaos for a while.

So I’ll make it simpler, drop the ball , that’s it, no wrist flick or couching down and let it go from 19 3/4”, as long as you drop it.............

What I might do is move all lateral hazard pegs to edge of fairways, remove all OOB stakes, so you can identify easier where ball crossed hazard, and only negative is you have to ‘just drop it’ 50 metres back where it definately crossed the hazard line, and not, ‘ I think it went in here’ spot
