I am looking at joining a course on the gold coast, cost is not a huge issue more looking at course access and course conditions. I am looking at maybe the Glades but not sure. Would like to hear from others what they think

Others (Locals) can expand, but I would guess Southport & Burleigh are 2 goodies.

The resort courses tend to have more issues with access & pace of play etc

Hi HJF

Could you answer a few more questions to narrow down please.

1) Do you want to play primarily competition golf?

2) What days of week do you normally play?

3) Location a concern in relation to where you live?

If you live at Burleigh Heads then Burleigh would be a good option, they have comp everyday, I was a member there and it is a very good members club if you want to get involved in interclub competitions and the course always presents beautifully. Coolangatta-Tweed is another good club for your location and has two courses to choose from although even with two courses I have heard it can be tough to book a Sat time that you want, Burleigh and CT are similar subs I believe. I am a member at Palm Meadows, it ticks all the boxes for me, close to home and I love the layout. The most important thing for me when joining a club is the replayability of a course, you don't want to get a couple of months into your membership and begin to get bored with the course.

Thanks for the suggestions

I was a member at Burleigh some years ago, the course always seemed very busy to me. I have played Palm Meadows a few time and enjoyed the lay out

I was thinking Robina woods but the palmer factor is a worry as he could do anything with the course

I am still thinking the glades might work best for me as its close to my kids school and I liked the course last time I played there.

Glades is one of my top mostest favourite courses. I am not sure if that will help with your decision making though

Sounds like a good plan.

Robina would be the best layout (I reckon) but clive idiot has all but ruined it.

I too like the Glades, but fear weekends would be very full fields.

Glades has very few members

Sunday mornings are probably reasonably busy but I’m guessing it’s not too bad the rest of the time

Would love to make Glades my home course - it’s one of my favourites too - right up there

Thanks for all the help guys

I joined the Glades and played my first round there yesterday, in fact my first round in 3 years. I played better then I expected with 33 points

my chipping let me down but I assume that will come back with some practise, off the tee I did ok with only 1 tee shot deep in the tree most were fairway or at least playable from the tree line.

the course was good, the greens a running at about 12 from what I was told. I enjoyed the risk/reward on the par 5's.

my game needs a lot of work after such a long break but I am happy with how I started

Thanks Madam I will have a look and see if I can make it

I was a member at Burleigh some years ago, and found the course & members excellent.

Excellent new club house and great Pro & staff makes it a very enjoyable place to play.

If you live near the course you have 4 courses near by and all are good but my preference is Burleigh.

Regards

Rob
