I've done some research on Galapagos and best flight options are to Chile, Mexico or LA. Stay on a boat 7 nights for Galapagos, which is costly but there are numerous options.

Wow Mouldy, that's a decent trip.

Uganda is a great place**, the lakes and mountains are spectacular, just another place in Africa that surprises given all most people know is Idi Amin.

Kampala is a bit of a dump, faded colonial, with bullet holes.

All depends what you want, presume you are going to Kenya as well, at least you can say you flew into Entebbe Airport.

Only part of the trip.

Looking at flying from China to Nairobi. Then side trips to Maasai, Uganda for gorillas and Madagascar.

Even though Kampala is a dump it's closer to the Gorilla tours. Did you go for gorillas, if so who did you use ?

Where else in Uganda should I consider ?

Is Maasai the best choice for game parks ?

I'm going to Quito and Galapagos from there. Not into diving so weighing up if it's worthwhile.

Jeez Mouldy, I saw the gorillas in 1994, gawd knows who we used, it was all a bit dodgy, the Rwandan civil war was on, we went thru Uganda, into Rwanda and then into the Congo.

We saw them in Virunga National Park, even at that stage the locals were ripping down their habitat to make charcoal so unsure if that is where you go to see them these days.

If you are going to Maasai Mara, think most trips leave out of Arusha in Tanzania, also go to the Ngorongoro Crater.

Will have a think about some options in Uganda

- don't hang around in Nairobi
