Belgium is hardly a "smokey". A lot of people have said all year they are one of the favorites. Especially out of the European contingent.

And how good were France's four goals last night?

Don't often want France to win, but when they play Argentina is one of those times.
Pity they didn't show Maradonna crying again.

I’ve heard a whisper from Mouldy that a little known outsider by the name of Winx is a sneaky chance next start.

I picked this. Belgium were on the 4th or 5th line of betting. They’ll go all the way.

Put your Superannuation on them.

Belgium v France would be a worthy final - 2 most talented sides in the tournament. Think France will just scrape through.

Going for the upset tonight - Sweden to shock England and Croatia should account for Russia.

France v Croatia final with France my tip to win

4th or 5th line of betting? Maybe in Australia where people know jack-**** about football.

But World Rankings pre-tournament -

1 Germany

2 Brazil

3 Belgium

So if they were in the 4th line of betting line I'd imagine that's because Australia were 1 and England 2 with Aussie bookies :)

I think in most Euro countries France are now faves, Belgium a close 2nd. That will be a very tight, close semi-final that one.

It pains me to say, but I think England might come a cropper tonight. We never beat Sweden (well, hardly ever).

Anyone noticed the final 6 teams still standing are all European?

I may be wrong and going by memory not google, but I don’t think a South American side has ever won the World Cup on European soil. Not so surprising

Near, but not quite true. Brazil won in Sweden in the 50's. But all others on European soil have been won by a European team.

Similarly when it's been held in South America, only once in 7 attempts has it not been won by a South American team. Germany broke the duck in Brazil 4 years ago.

In fact an awful lot of home teams win the thing. Brazil in Brazil, Uruguay in Uruguay, England in England, plus Italy, West Germany, Argentina, France. All host countries that won.

Not this year tho. Still have my money on France. But it's wide open.

Will be a big thing when a team from outside Europe or South America wins it. Hasn't happened yet. Although only 3 tournaments so far have been held outside those 2 continents.

(btw - all that lot was with the help of google :))

That they’re all European has been a big talking point over here.

The champion team v team of champions theme.

The last 4 have all been very controlled and organised.

I must say Croatia were unlucky not to win in regular time. Easily the better team

Go anyone ...... who is playing against the poms.

If the Poms lose, it would be nice to see the upset English fans create more carnage in Russia, than the might of Hitler's army could muster in 6 years of trying ...... ;) .
