No 2 shot penalty. This discussion is about the scenario where a player leaves his ball unmarked on the putting surface whilst a fellow competitor is playing from off the green. 2 shot penalty only applies when you’re both on the green.

Woeful from Jimmy Walker in response to a video of backstopping tweeted by Mike Clayton. Then his wife also got involved.


Walker makes Mike Clayton's point and then argues the indefensible including a shot at Clayton not knowing anything as he isn't a tour player !!

I always leave my ball there if its in a favourable position (pennants would be the exception, but the putt it usually given at that point anyway).


If anything I get annoyed at my playing partners each week when they dont leave theirs there for me. The frustrating part is that are they are marking it because they think their ball will hinder me rather than give me an advantage.


That's what I don't get.
