I have a 16 deg SLDR mini driver which is ok for tee shots on short 4s but not consistent enough for the 180-190m fairway shots.

I swapped it out for my 18 deg Titleist hybrid. Not as good off the tee which is not surprising given its smaller face. But slightly better off the deck. Problem being its never going to be a high flight landing softly.

So I'm going to try a fairway wood at 17/18 deg with the hope of a more consistent strike.

Now I need help on the head to buy. I'll trust GolfGuy to put in an appropriate shaft for me.

Then main focus is off the deck so I need easiest to launch.

I may be way off here but a base that is curved has some appeal for not so perfect lies. Hence more usable. Interested in your thoughts.

For the occasions that I use it off the tee a slim profile would be a mental challenge but maybe I just need to suck it up.

Do you really expect us to believe you are going to hit a 4/5w 180/190 metres???  Wasn't too long back you were bitchin about not being able to hit your driver 200M.

So you wish to equate your golfing distances to be about the same as Mouldy??

Some of us are realistic about our distances, while others are Mouldy.

A TaylorMade 17 degree M1/M2 or the Ping G/G400 would be a good start for the profile and loft with some adjust-ability. What shaft is the key to the launch aspect.

Once again, how do you alter the loft via the face angle, it just sits open, square or closed ?

If you close the face angle(increase the loft on the loft sleeve), then return the face to square at address, you have added loft compared to what you had before. Pretty sure that's how it works isn't it?

4 or 5 iron should do the trick then.
