The "Work life balance" cliche ... is not an entitlement to earn more.
This concept of 'work life balance' entitlement is unfortunately, IMO, one of the key fears that fuels the ignorant debate.
Fear, as in FOMO.

It's too easy for the Unions to throw stones at business and make them the cause of the workers lack of entitlements.
Interestingly, in history, do we all know which government introduction taxation on non salary benefits like a company car? Or, for that matter, which political party was at the core of, and legislated for the taxation of your accrued lump sum annual leave when you get it paid to you on termination of employment?
Now, as for the workers CPI wage increase, can we all remember which government first brought in a central system for ensuring it was capped at CPI?
