I dunked driver in the drink on that one
Thankfully the drop zone there is designed for punters.

Tough hole but does have a bail out zone. Drop Zone?

Yeah the entire right side is a easy bail out.
There is a drop zone in that area so you don't have to drop short of the hazard and still have a 140M+ shot over water if i remember correctly it's near a little tree.

Seen one of these put in place using the Island green excuse. This is obviously not an Island green. Curious to know what rule allows clubs to do this. The one I know of had the drop zone at 100m. Distance from tee was 170m + all over water unless you bailed out to the right.

I really don't like American style target golf and an island green is the epitome of that I guess. I have actually played TPC Sawgrass and 17 is not a great hole but, in a tournament setting for the Players I think it certainly adds to the drama.

I tend to gravitate more towards the strategic concept of golf course architecture and I always feel that there should be an easier bail-out option and a chance for a recovery shot after a poor swing - an island green removes all of those options.

The best way I can describe it is that can I play a course like that with my 70 year old dad where we are both challenged and enjoy our game even though we play different standards of golf? The answer is clearly no, my old man would never finish his round.
