If we had a hole like that at our Club, we would never finish a round!

You’d be fine, you wouldn’t need driver.

Never played an actual island but played a few where it was mostly water - and then usually a bunker at the back to give you a moment of relief before facing a bunker shot back towards the water you just went over!

See Mouldy, you're doing it wrong.
When people mention island greens, this is what they're referring to.
It's not about hitting an island when you're aiming at a green

I played this hole https://goo.gl/images/pRgzyz at Orange Lake a couple of times when I was 12, 115 yards. I didn't manage to make the carry - hit a 5 iron into the water on attempt 1 then a 5 wood on attempt 2 wide right. I remember my brother who was 10 got closest out of us by skimming a 3 wood across that hit the wooden stanchions. Drop zone was at the back of the green for kids or we would have been there all day.

Yep - although water doesn’t go around the sides so much and there is too behind although it’s not pleasant back there

Wouldn't mind playing that type of hole once a year.

But if there was one at my home course I think it would slowly, quickly, immediately drive me insane. Wouldn't want to tee it up every week that's for sure.

The 2x Par 3 mostly water carry's at Windaroo are enough for me.

I would love to sit on a deck chair with a slab at Hidden Valleys 18th tee on a stroke day that's blowing 40KM plus and see how many balls get dunked.

Last time I went there a friend shanked 4 in a row into the water before hitting a baby 3 wood onto the island.

Mouldy lays up on island green par 3s.

I dunked driver in the drink on that one 😂
Thankfully the drop zone there is designed for punters.

Great hole.   Loved our few days there when we were there for the Nats.
