My wife has won a spot in the HK Open next week and im on her bag, first time caddying for me and looking for any advice.

Im told a caddy is responsible for only 3 things:
1. Turning up
2. Shutting up
3. All bad shots

Anyway it will be a fun experience and just hope to make the cut, was thinking about doing a VLog on the experience but not sure if im that smart or its worth the while.

Any caddy tips appreciated.

Do a journal journey thing on here.

It will be an interesting read amid a lot of otherwise dull dribble.

Will think about what to write, hoping its a great experience as its a big moment for her, she hadnt played competative golf for 8 years, became a teaching pro to make a living, got her LPGA and had 2 kids now 5 and 7, started playing again last year and won the HK PGA order of merit, small fields for a handfull of teaching pros in HK, that gave her a start in the HK open a combined Asian and China tour event, not LPGA but next tier down but still a standard higher than what she has experienced since her amatuer days.

Dad done the same for mum in the Australian open
they both were very nerves it was all very funny because mum never took advise from him
on golf but yet he caddied for her, their sill together and enjoyed the hype.
Mum received wild cards for years after but never returned.

Good story, did she ever teach?

My wife resisted my requests initially but realised i know her game better than anyone else, for her its more about the experience and we are treating it like a honeymoon we never had, my mum and dad are coming to macau to look after the kids and we are spending 5 nights in HK together which will be a great escape and hopefully enjoy the experience

Mum played all her life in Port Augusta S.A. The local schools, YMCA, golf club would ask her to teach on special days but only that.
Mum played only on slags and never considered her self as anything more than a house wife. She held course records in every town she played 17 time country champion, people would say she could have made it on the pro seen but Mum stuck to bringing up us kids.
Because she would win on all the surrounding golf courses she received wild cards to the Australian open she matched it with the pros until the green but had no idea chipping and putting.

A friend, Max Mccardle now on the Asian tour when in Australia has mates caddy for him they don't say much during the round just when he speaks they answer.

could i ask your wife's name it would be great to follow her

It's probably the only chance any of us will get to read about a bloke giving advice to his wife and getting away with it...

And potentially getting paid for it!

Hope Tango has agreed his caddy fee up front, flat rate plus success fee!

Talk about anything and everything except golf between shots.

Don’t be afraid to speak up if you disagree with a club selection or a decision she has made. Being your wife make sure you are right, haha.

And admit if you make a mistake. I once gave a mate a wrong yardage, I told him straight away as he thought he hit a prefect shot only to see it fly the green. Thank fark he holed a 20 footer to save par. At least he knew he had hit a good shot and it was just the fat spastic on his bag who stuffed up.

Enjoy!

As a pro she will be ok, so stick with your 3 rules.  the only other suggestion i have is, when my player isnt really interested in talking to others but they do, ill do the talking - so my player can walk off and think about his game - I do this a lot in Pennant ( also happened in a pro-am where the amateurs were too friendly and were putting my mate off)
