Hi again today T

How far do you hit your drive ?
The reason I ask is you said you're putting improving will bring you better scores
I am like you trying to get to a plus handicap and working very hard on my putting game

I am of the thinking we need more birdies to get our handicap down and to do this buy driving the ball longer opens this door up for me. I am doing physiotherapy perscribed exercises now for about 5 months and showing some gains.

I'm a 51 year old man with 2 kids under 7 who doesnt exercise and no plans to do so,but I do drive it well, usually 280 yards we don't have much run here and our course is very tight and undulated so keeping it in play is more important than length, I only use driver 7 out of 18 holes and use 3 wood or 4 iron on some.
Our course is 6900 yards with OOB or hazards both sides on most holes and 2 of the 4 par 5s are uphill and almost unreachable in 2, our greens are small, grainy and very tricky.
Most pros struggle at the Macau open purely because of the greens.

Length is good to have but not at the expense of accuracy, today I was inside 140 yards 10 times excluding par 3s and did not convert any into birdie, that's my weakness but I don't practice.

Hitting wedges, 9 and 8 irons inside 10 feet is how to score better rather than driving longer IMO but horses for courses I guess.

If you are regularly hitting wedges and 9 irons into greens you are long enough

For you - you carry driver 240+ metres

Many are hitting 5 iron vs your PW and the extra distance off the tee is huge

Agree to an extent. Maybe 9i or 8i for the masses.

Length is only a problem when you don't have it. Tango you've got plenty.

That’s not what I mean

They are hitting 5i because their drive is 40m behind yours

When you carry driver 240m - 270y you don’t worry about getting extra distance - you already have good distance - the guy who drives it 210 though is in a very different situation

400m+ hole basically works out to a Driver- 5 wood for me VS driver 8/9 iron or 3 wood 6/7 iron to friends who are a bit over average length. Makes the game look a whole lot more fun from where they are playing from.
I'd be a lot happier if I could get to driver 5-6 iron range 😂
