I'd like to be there too, but it's a long way off. Good luck on your quest.

Keeps us posted of your progress and what you're doing to get there.

To be honest its all about putts, my ball striking is ok there are plenty that pure it better and plenty that putt better, my chipping and sand game is solid and usualy chip to tap ins.

The best scores are when i hole putts, often its up and downs, dont make many birdies which im working on but make 12 to 15 pars a round.

So what's your GIR stats like?

Are they impacted by FIR misses?

GIR are not great probably my weakest link, around 48% i think which is what im working on and why im buying new irons.

FIR are pretty good usually 70% but i find this isnt a big factor on scoring, keeping in play and not fairways is more important.

Making putts and hitting it close are the biggest impact on scoring IMO, taking more club, controlled swings and getting the ball closer to the hole would slash strokes off anyones hcp

have you had a set since the HGs?

for those playing along at home and are interested, I hit Tango's HG 8 iron on to the green from 180m out, admittedly with a tail breeze at the Glades a few years ago, after Maxxxxon hit his 8 iron same distance and I wanted to show him up.

Yes mate i won a set of Mizuno MP15 about 2 years ago, they have regular NSPro shafts which i find a little soft thats why ive just ordered AP3,s in stiff hoping to get a tighter dispersion in the irons.

The HGs were given to a mate of mine and the MP15s im hoping will go in my wifes bag after she finishes the open,

Get your GIR up to 55-60% and it should help things alot. If you're leaving yourself 9 up and downs to make every round it's putting alot of pressure on your short game and putting which makes it hard to shoot par, imo.

48% isn't horrible but definitely some room to move there. I'd love your fairway stats though - mine usually sits around 40%

I always found putting to be the one true equaliser though. You don't necessarily need to stick it close all day, you just need to start holing putts.

Putting is generally one of my strengths but it does go hot and cold. I average 30 putts a round but can easily have 26 putts in a round when it get hot. And thats when the good scores come that drop shots off the hc.

77 today with a 2 shot penalty for my ball hitting my bag after ricocheting off a bunker lip...
Couldn't hole a put today and a missed up and down for bogey on 18 hurt.
Will do stats later.
