The National. Phenomenal setup.

Do they let you take your bag inside?

Asking for a friend....

The Australian is the best I have been to in Australia. Even their half way area is fantastic.

NSW has good views of the course, it’s a pity about the flogs in the joint.

TPC Sawgrass is on another level. Great views of the 18th and awesome food. It is just ridiculous in size. I have photos I took somewhere, I will try and find them and post them.

Oakmont is amazing and they really celebrate past champions of all the tournaments played there. It has a very special feel to it.

Augusta National is beyond words, I can’t describe the feel of the place.

BK’s (club)house is fully sick!

Warragul has a decent clubhouse, it would want to be after the $10M it cost.
If you're a gambler, it has TAB, Keno, pokies. The kitchen is good with a large dining room, cafeteria, function rooms, etc.
The lounge area and outdoor patios overlook the 18th.

But, to me, it's just too commercial, not intimate.

The National is nice :) but hard to chose between Kingston Heath , Commonwealth, Metropolitan or even Royal Melbourne. The locker rooms are amazing with all the nice little extras like hand towels ( real not paper) and sunscreen and deodorant.
On the other hand I have been to some country courses and the club house is nothing special but the warmth from the members and anyone involved in the club, made guests feel welcome and treated everyone with respect.

And didn’t spend a dime on the course.

Best I’ve been to in Australia - toss up between the Aussie and the National; best overseas Wentworth.

Mads, I know we are doing best, for mine the National is one of the worst, cavernous and no atmosphere.

Happy to play Greg's course for the rest of my life.

- thinking about The National, I haven't been down there on a Saturday, do the members stay around for presentation, is there a club atmosphere?

The National has no soul but has everything you could want in a clubhouse, I was lucky enough to play there but it was the other golfers who were also playing that made it feel not so sterile.

what makes you want to stay in the clubhouse.....it can have the bells and whistles but does it have the friendship and warmth that you get from being in gold clubhouse that shows friendship  to keep you in the establishment....

i have found many clubhouses wether it be city or country to be great with out many amenties part from everyones daily needs..

rather then going to a 10 grand plus a year memberhip clubhouse...but exclude those that dont suit..

no point having the best clubhouse if no one uses the facilities

i find this thread luaghable in ways as many of us expect and do things diiferently..

specially when most of this forum base is about playing golf rather then hanging back enjoying facilities like beer in the clubhouse

The National just has a lets get out there and play golf feel. Very enjoyable.

NSW, Yarra Yarra and Victoria have great charm.

RM boring and barely functional.

New ones like Southern and Spring Valley are merely functional.

Eastern today is comfortable but I thought I was in a Qantas Lounge

Most of the clubs I went to in Laos and Cambodia last year were just opulent hotel style and you wouldn't know it was a golf course. I did like having my shoes cleaned and clothes picked up. For another dollar I'm sure A-Grade wankers could be taken care of.

I can't go past Kingston Heath in the traditional styles and of the new designs the internal features of Woodlands appeal to me.
