Australia's greatest golf courses are invariably 18 holes but what about the nation's leading 9, 10, 12 or even 13-hole golf courses?

There are some short course gems in every state that could use a bit of added recognition.

We're compiling a list of Australia's Best Short Golf Courses and we need your help in this week's Weekly Reader Poll.

Metung has a 9 hole course called Kings Cove.

For such a small little fishing town, it's got a pretty good track

It's usually in great nick and presents a few challenges.

The two par 3's, in particular, are tough holes.

In Melbourne you can't really go past Cheltenham. Always in great condition, the course's lack of length is defended by narrow fairways and small undulating greens.

Two really good 9 holes courses.

Aussie Golf Ranch on Phillip Island is great test of golf (all holes are par 3's ranging from 110m to 185m) always windy,  deep bunkers and water hazards and good greens.

Woorayl - Leongatha - has small fast greens, 9 holes, 1 par 5 (490m)  + 1 par 3 (165m) + 7 x par4's all difficult.
