Okay this is something a little different for you to ponder.

Over the last couple of years I've had the odd nagging injury, and I've noticed my swing isn't quite as fluid as it used to be.

In real terms that I can quantify, my driver distance has dropped slightly, which at this stage is not a real concern, but it is something I have noticed (some of my playing partners are now level with me after our tee shots).

That being the case, I'm starting to think about what I can do in terms of "age-proofing" my golf game. (By the way, I have copyrighted that phrase)

By "age proofing" I mean what specifics could I be working on to negate this slight loss of driver distance going forward ........ so that my overall game does not suffer.

After a quick search I have found the usual, work on your short game blah, blah, blah, but are there any other areas I could be looking to improve on?

Your thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated .... :)

Two words Gaz:

Stay
Flexible

You see it all the time in golfers from about mid 40s and beyond.
As soon as your muscles and joints get stiff and creaky, you're going to lose distance.
The body can't maintain the angles and movements that deliver power.

There's a lot of ways to maintain flexibility as we get older.
Just stay active and embrace the necessary evil that is stretching.

Could always go with fairways instead of hybrids. My burner tp 5wood is pretty similar in size to a lot of hybrids with biggish heads and i really use it more often than my 3 iron these days.

I have 2 iron sets Baz that I tend to swap between, a set of MP68's stiff flex, and a set of MP32's reg flex. I used to swap between the two on a weekly basis.

Now that you mention it though ...... I reckon I haven't had the 68's in the bag for a good six months now, as I just find the 32's nicer to hit ......... fark, the slide to "ladies flex" has started .... :o

I've got another two words:

Foam
Roller

I swear by these, especially for getting rid of stiffness in quads, hammies, glutes and lower back.
If you haven't used one before, I'll warn you now, rolling your quads is going to be freakin excruciating the first few times you do it.
I only started doing it a few years back so I had 40 odd years of knots to get out.
Good Lord it was horrible.

Pretty soon though you'll get past the nastiness and then they become a brilliant way to stay limber
