You see, I have this boogie board that I need someone to carry through Bali Customs ...

No but seriously, at the end of the week I'll be flying out to Bali for 11 days of well deserved R & R.

I'm flying Virgin Economy X so I have a normal baggage allowance.  23kgs from memory.

It's not being planned as a golf trip.  Just rest, relaxation, pool, beach and pretending that the rest of the world doesn't exist.

In the back of my mind, I have a gnawing little voice telling me that I should try and at least have one round while I'm there.  That same gnawing voice is telling me that if I enjoy one round, then maybe I should have two.

Now back to reality, I've been doing my due diligence and looking through this website. => https://www.easygolfbali.com I remembered reading comments in forums way back when that Bali is expensive for golf.  I had hoped that things had settled down a bit over the decade and they were more welcoming to the golf playing great unwashed that visits their fair shores.

Thus far, I haven't found anything close to the value the can be found in my back yard in South East Qld.

I'll be staying in Canggu.  I see that Nirwana Golf Course is closed for renovations.  Then, New Kuta Golf Club is pricey by Oz standards.  18 Holes with electric cart, Caddie, Mon-Thur is USD$130 pp.  Throw in Club Hire @USD$35 per set and you have a round making the grand total of: AUD$214.37  I'm not too fussed on paying through the nose just to swing a club.

Is there something I'm missing?  Does a member know of a good 'lurk' or good website with better deals?

If not, I'll probably give it a miss and do something just as enjoyable but not breaking the bank at the same time.

Could be a plan.  But I have been known to seek outdoors adventure. No, not a liaison with a tranny late night in a park.  Something outdoorsy and fun.  This place is definitely on the list: https://www.waterbom-bali.com

Take it from me - it’s not worth $200. We were there for 2 weeks in January, staying in Nusa Dua, so it was a 5 minute taxi ride to Bali National from the resort. It was humid as, we were stuck behind 2 groups of choppers; and if you’re staying at Canggu, it will be an hour in traffic to get there. As TTR has indicated, Waterbom Park is a much more worthwhile experience, or white water rafting at Ubud.

Thanks to the commenters.  Unless someone comes on with some late mail, I think the picture is fairly clear. Bali will be a golfing hiatus.

TTR you could always grab a night at Club Med Nusa Dua. There’s a par 3 course on the property which is half decent. There’s an all-inclusive package which from memory is about IRP $850,000 per person per night (about $85 each). The food is sensational and you’ll get to have a hit on their par 3.

All good CC.  My accommodation package is locked in at Canggu.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately the closure of Bali Nirwana has taken away your best option from Canggu. Travel to the other courses is not a great option because an underpass construction near the airport is causing huge traffic congestion at times. Try a visit to Old Mans, Betelnut Cafe or the Echo Beach Cafe - tons of great places to try. Enjoy

100%. When we were there in January it didn’t matter what time of day you travelled, it was gridlock. A trip to Kuta from Nusa Dua took 45 minutes one day. 2 hours to Ubud! The restaurants around Seminyak are superb. I would add La Lucciola and Ku De Ta to vjay’s suggestions.

I just got back from Bali. Played Bali national as I had my own clubs. Try golfscape.com and search for Bali. Some of the clubs do cheaper prices in the morning. Golf in Bali is definitely not cheap. I think we paid 137 AUD for Bali national. Which includes green fees, cart fees and caddy fees. You still have to tip the caddies around $15-20. So you’re looking at close at $200 for a round. The course was excellent. Some of the trickiest greens and fast. Make sure you take lotta balls if you do go. Humidity is always 100% so take a change of clothes.

Welcome to Asian green fees, Bali is a lot better than other places, here in Macau green fees and a cart set you back over 300 AUD....
I miss Aussie green fees just dont miss the tax.
