Pies will play finals this year - went to the game and they were very good live. Brought more heat and intensity than any side we've played this year so far(including adelaide who touched us up).

west coast are the side surprising me the most, I had them dropping down the ladder like a lead balloon this season, but theyre up and about and clearly will win enough games at home to more than likely play finals.

Saints - wow they're in some horrible form, Reiwoldt and Montagna have left a massive hole in experience and class.

Brisbane - started with so much hope, just dashed now

Blues are superbad

The way Im grouping the sides on the season so far:

Tiges

GWS

Syd

WCE

Adel

Port

Coll

Hawks

Dees

North

Freo

Geelong

Bombers

dogs

GC

Saints

Bris

Carlton

Does anyone rate the Dees ? Wins against Brisbane, Norf and Essendon vs floggings from Richmond and Hawks.

They look very ordinary and one suspects that yet again they're not playing for the coach.

In fact Goodwin must be favourite for first coach to be sacked in 2018. There's only him, the 2 Scotts and Bevo in any danger.

So...how about your man Bolts...they're not playing for anyone, least of all the coach.

And I'd have thought Alan Richardson is probably losing more sleep that any of the one's you've named.

Whilst Bevo may not have the dogs barking, he's 18 months removed from a premiership. And I think both the Scotts will be fine...one has a potential premiership team sitting under him, and the other has the team widely tipped to be wooden spooners having a crack each week and sitting in the 8. And I think you answered your own question re Melbourne...they're 3 and 3...not exactly out of it.

Bolts is as safe as a pre Royal Commission bank

Shite is obviously happening behind the scenes at the kennel.

Everyone at Moorabbin knows there are no cattle. They're used to mediocrity.

Geelong are underperforming

Norf are showing the usual early spark before falling away rapidly.

Melbourne, who were certainties for the 8 are a rabble of losers that will miss

Just when I've got it all worked out it appears Ross Lyon has inappropriately told some teenager that he didn't know she had some fine assets.

Caro will have him sacked before the end of the week.

The #metoo brigade will be out in full force tomorrow regardless of how innocuous Lyon's comments were.

He's gone

As much as I hate saying it, I do rate those campaigners. The whole preseason camp thing was a PR disaster and the fruits of that cockup wont be seen until the heat is on later in the season, but I still think they'll be playing finals.

Both Scotts are safe as houses this season and next I wouldve thought.

Not sure whats going on down at the kennel with Bevo, but youd think he has a grace period to let the young side develop. Theyre actually a younger side than the blues.

How many more losses before Bolton comes under pressure?

You can't be under pressure if no one expects you to win.

Carlton have been so rubbish for so long that the entire supporter base just thinks that's how it's supposed to work....

Stink it up for the year and get a high draft pick.

Fail to adequately develop said draft pick (Cripps excepted)

Rinse and repeat.

How many more losses before Bolton comes under pressure?

Tigertuff, just remember a couple of years back when Richmond was crap and all they could manage was 9th spot specialist, yet possibly marginely better then carlton at that time when your supporters and some of your board and big name supporters was calling for  Hardwicks sacking.... well  I bet  the board and its merry supporters are glad that they didnt get rid of him now.

Carlton over the years have not  been that great with coaches  a wrong choice (however i didnt think he would get us there) was Ratten...atleast he had the boys somewhat firing and in his last season as coach was plagued with injuries.....  Malthouse was the dumbest aquisitions of carltons time, the board thought  Ratten got them to contention and Malthouse would walk straight in to gain a premiership only to have failed.

When Bolton arrived, he was given the oppurtunity to build from the ground up and said quite bluntly succuss wasnt going to happen straight away  as well will be rebuilding  for atleast 3 years and in that time  Bolton has replace 42 players wether the players left by choice or by Bolton culling them...  What needs to Happen  now is the team to come  more stable and playing as a group and start believing in them selves....

History was made last weekend 1st time ever Carlton had been 0-6 and probably 0-8 in the next 2 weeks... its hard watching the games we have played and sometimes we think where  to next.

We could look at sacking Bolton but where is that going to get Carlton a further 5 years behind as you will be looking at a new coach with a different game plan and the players will have to start again with a new selection of players the new coach wants....  as i said this has been a part of carltons problem is changing coaches.

Yeah i can see Gpj views on this as all of us Carlton supporters would much rather be at the top instead of being where we are at...

Remember the coach is 1 man coaching 22 players,  he can give the tools  to the 22 players and show them how to use those tools, but at the end of the day its those 22 players on the field  that has to use those tools  in the correct way ....

the fact is bolton has now got a very young side with some good up coming players like cripps, C Curnow, fisher and a couple of others that are doing own, these young players arre learning and they will make mistakes along the way....

I'm with Oz. Bolton is a teacher and that's what Carlton need for the next 3 years. Can he apply the polish to produce a flag, probably not.

It's no coincidence that the teams with the most average games played make up most of the top 8 positions on the ladder. We need the majority of the top 22 to have more than 100 games. With Murphy, Thomas and Simpson possibly playing their last season we'll probably start 2019 with an average number of games close to 50.

In SOS we trust
