Beaudesert

When it’s in good condition it’s a challenging and interesting layout that requires accuracy off the tee and the small greens put the pressure on your approaches

Can't agree with Warragul. Pleasant game but nothing special. Leongatha, Trafalgar and Yarram are all very good courses.

Bermagui hardly gets a mention and would have a waiting list if it was near a major city.

Tuncurry I have seen on a few hidden gem lists but I'll mention it again. Wonderful undulating layout where the design really takes advantage of the rolling landscape.

Tallwoods up the road is also very good but unfortunately was in terrible condition when I played there.

Federal lives in the shadows of Royal Canberra but doesn't have a bad hole.

Mt Compass in South Australia is a very good course that has some wonderful vistas and really rewards a player who can position the ball properly.

Australia has so much great golf and the country courses are incredible value.

Why?????? Long and challenging course, the hardest hole is a tree lined fairway with OOB, 30 yards behind the green. Greens are always consistent, and we have produced two PGA event winners on the same day, on different sides of the world.

I'd like to nominate my new home track - Ocean Shores Country Club.

Reasons for my nomination include this from the latest newsletter to members:

  • A number of members have commented that our fairways are being cut too short compared to other courses in the region. As OSCC has a 16mm fairway cut height, versus a 9 to 12mm fairway cut height at other courses in the area, the belief that our course has a shorter fairway cut height is not correct.

Yes, BUT, what height are the fairways cut at?

Hmmm.

The problem with trying to rate underrated golf courses is that some are good layouts that are sometimes in fair to middling good condition - in the Brisbane area, think Gailes.

And, other courses outside the metro area that are reasonably priced, and decent layouts, that are at the mercy of the weather to be in their best shape - Bribie Island, Woodford and Middle Ridge come to mind - apologies to Turfy as I haven't played Caboolture since the '70's.

Agree with the aforementioned Ocean Shores, and Kooralbyn might climb the ladder if they keep spending the money - big if.

Of all the 'resort' courses, Lakelands gets my tick for consistently being in great shape, an interesting laylout, and reasonably priced.

Pfffft...

Hardly exact LIKE OSCC.

16mm exact to be precise.

Third World problems.
