Not only interesting, but good. I still reading through it
Here is a few I like. Clublengths instead of inches/cms. Dropping knee height.
The RB’s obviously listened to feedback.

Languid, not sure what the knee dropping solves, I would have been happy to see the rule changed to placing the ball if they are looking to avoid redropping which I presume was the impetus to the alteration.

Placing is always an advantage and was not under consideration; dropping was maintained to retain some semblance of randomness, similar to when a ball comes to rest after a stroke.  The other consideration was having the ball come to rest within the permitted dropping area and being played from within that area.

Click on the link and it explains their reasoning in depth. Understandable change when you read that. Dropping so you can’t pick your lie, from knee so reduces number of repeat drops due to roll out of area and also reduced bunker plugging.

Dropping in a bunker is the stupidest rule in golf, placing would have solved it.

How often do you get a perfect lie in a bunker ( hazard )?

At least if you go in one, it usually has some pace involved and will roll to a spot, often the lowest spot.

At my course, we allow drops from roo prints...but often the drop can half plug and end up more penal than the roo print.

The place in bunkers is a far more equitable solution. Isn't it penalty enough just to be in one...and not have to hope you don't end up in a crap lie due to animals..which includes the inconsiderate dropkicks that have come through before you who haven't bothered to clean up after themselves.

You guys all seem to miss the point. A bunker is a hazard, put there to make play more difficult. This being so why would the rules them make it easier again if you were entitled to a drop ( place )?

I think maybe you are missing the point, Pom. :)

As Goldy said, usually a ball enters a bunker with momentum and rolls onto a flattish lie.

So if you have to take a drop from something like casual water, you are in the bunker and have a plugged lie.

It's almost like a double penalty, through no fault of your own.

Our veteran golfers will be happy... they have been playing the OB rule already and the gross stroke rule....
We thought they didn't know the rules but they were just ahead of the times...
