Now, I'm sure they're more than a few of us on here that enjoy a glass or two of vino.

My preference is a shiraz with a bit of fruit/guts/whatever. But, the price needs to be affordable due to financial constraints.

So, mostly I shop at Uncle Dan's, and try to keep the purchase price between $20-$30, and there are some very enjoyable drops in that price bracket......or at least I think so.

Just enjoying a Kalleskie Moppa 2016 shiraz, which for about $26, is very agreeable drop.

Please share your favourites........as I'm happy to experiment. Will not go near pinots though!  :D

Yeah i go shiraz as well although my friend is currently making me drink my way through the italian varietals and i think chianti could be my favourite, not that id know anything about buying one.

Had a bottle of fowles ladies who shoot their lunch shiraz last night that was delicious, was 2015 i think.

My tastes in the last 2 years have changed dramatically. I was give me a big Barossa or Mclaren Vale Shiraz and happiness was ensured.

Mate and I went on a journey trying as many grape varieties as possible. We got to almost 150 before it became cost prohibitive in Australia.

I now have a much more global palate somewhat hamstrung by my wallet size.

That said I might do the dirty on Itchy and back door him. His friend has the right idea just need to know how tasty she is. There are a lot of very good Italian varietals out there and I've spent a lot of time learning about their appellations and what's good.

Itchy mentioned Chianti which is predominantly Sangiovese. You need to research the various grades, appellations and vintages. Chianti, Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Reserva.

Chianti is produced in Tuscany which also has Brunello Di Montalcino as its premier Sangiovese. So if you want a good night buy a Brunello Itchy. If you want a "really" good night buy a 2010

Alternatively if you want to show your expertise you could go for a super Tuscan. Simply classified as IGT and not DOC or DOCG they are blends of what's good. Often predominantly Cabernet. This is what loyal Aussies should try. Really good drinking at a moderate price.

In whites, yes it does appeal to those with testosterone, Assyrtiko is a Greek white wine which will make a couple happy. Starting to be plenty out there but the best are from the Island of Santorini.

Whilst I have a lot of imported wines in my cellar it is dominated by Aussie wine. I just think there's a lot more great stuff out there than our usual go to wines.

As for a current Aussie quaffer, Dans has 19 Crimes 2017 Shiraz on sale. Very fruity easy drinking style.
