How good is Woods in history of golf...

Phil won his 43rd tournament today - Woods has won 79 but has done nothing really

since 2008, except one good year in 2012 or so!

Woods turned pro in '96, Mickelson in '91!

Woods has had about 12 years of good competition and Mickelson 27!

We forget how dominating Woods has been...

Lots of players careers would look a lot different without Tiger in the picture.

Phil is a legit Hall of Famer

Really hope he can get a us open before he is done. Deserves the Career GS and is looking good this year and is at a course he can play well at.

I fear if he doesnt win it this year he wont.

Yes hope Phil can get US Open....

That was my point - Phil is a hall of famer 2 x over - I think 20 Victories givs you lifetime membership of PGA Tour... he is a good as you can get on the tour

but Phil has had a full career and Woods have a 1/2 career so far and he has double the W's

We forget how dominating Woods has been...

Not sure anyone can really forget how dominating he was from that period around late 90's to about 2012.

It was Tiger, crickets, rest of the field.

If he was going at least 50% of his ability, he won.

14 Majors in that small time-frame says it all.

Very happy for Phil getting another win. Especially after Justin's eagle looked to have stolen it. Wonder how many wins (and Majors) Phil would have if Tiger never arrived?

How many times to Phil finished second on his own to Tiger will give a rough idea.

I reckon it may be a lot more than that. There's probably numerous times that Phil (and others) fell away or imploded once Tiger got near the lead.

It also took Phil a lot longer to get his first Major (because of Tiger?), but once he got the first, others quickly followed. 2004/5/6. If he'd won his first major sooner (and I think he had a lot of 2nd/3rd places when Tiger dominated in the 5 years or so before 2003) he would probably have won a lot more of them.

Are there any other Lefty's that are close to Phil's record? Or is he the GLOAT?

Not many right handers beat phil, has to the greatest left hander by a country mile...

Only leftys I can think of that would come close Bubba Watson......10 wins + 2 majors

Mike Weir and Bob Charles - one major each? Did Charles win a major, thinking the Open but

maybe wrong?

Agree Tiger won not only by talent but also a lot by mentally being in the heads of his competitors.

How many times did he get to a sunday with no chance and then steal it when others fell away?

How many times (ALA 2005 Masters chip on 16?) did tiger do this to win or force a playoff?

Watching him climb the leaderboard every sunday would have sent the best packing mentally.
