I more or less said that. But if you're going to conduct a graded comp as well, I'm looking for some opinion on the matter.

Thanks for playing.

Looks like Mick is DQ, for not reading the conditions of play properly and playing out of turn

I think for a lot of A graders, nett is just a non entity in terms of wanting to win it. As has been mentioned the gross total is what you should be aiming for.

As for grades, the fact that they have any part in club championships is just a farce.

You might as well just hand out trophies "for participation".

Who in their right mind 30 years from now, is going to want to look up and see a C grade trophy staring back at them from their mantelpiece? :o

I never understood a gross prize for a grade. You go from 10 to 9 1 week before the champs and all of a sudden you have no chance of winning the gross in your grade. I think "club champ" is the only gross event and the rest off handicap.

Some people view the grades as a historical thing. A club with dwindling memberships struggling to find A grade players doesn't want to say an 18 handicapper is an A grader just to even up the numbers. It doesn't sound right. But I also understand the unfairness of half the field playing for one third of the prizes. I like the idea of A reserve or D grade or an old age group like over 70's.

The one thing I would stipulate is a seeded draw. I think the club champs are the one event of the year where you can say these are the playing conditions if you want to win. Nothing worse than someone playing with their best mates for 3 or 4 weeks and winning the club champs without anyone else watching them hit a shot.
