Does a 3/4 driver swing at a slower speed not go about the same distance as a normal 3w? Hang on who am I asking.  Of course it does, but the benefit here is to add complication wherever possible.

Just a few words of advice Ben. Driver off the deck skills are limited to True Blues. Make sure you don't share with the great unwashed infidels.
As an expert DotD hitter the key is to setup as per your normal driver position except the ball position is a few inches back. As in at the bottom of your swing. To ensure good contact and a completed swing only take it back about 3/4 of your normal driver swing and a little slower. A full follow through will see the ball fly with a gentle fade so aim at the left edge of the green.
I look forward to hearing about your upcoming tap in Eagle.

Mouldy it seems to me you need to come along to the lesson. There is no way I would swing Driver at 3/4 speed. Ever.

That's why on the next occasion you'll slice the shite out of it. Insufficient time to get the face square on a full swing.

Yesterday I played Golf at a lovely course. We were on the 9th and I was behind in the head to head (social, so far more important than Comp). I thought I hit a decent drive but when I measured my next shot I was still 236m from the pin. “F@&k” this is a hard par 4.

Anyway, having been hitting well and the course was in such good nick I decided to hit Driver off the deck. I’d seen it done once but never tried it myself. Managed to get it pin high just off the green. Easy up and down.

Then my playing partner tells me it’s a par 5!

How good is golf. Happy Australia Day. Ben.

Well done Place...but I have to say...I've been doing this for years.

I bought a "dedicated" driver for just this......a Ping Tisi, came out in the mid 90's before drivers got to be 460cc. This one is 320cc and a low face , so easy to hit off the deck. I chucked the 3 wood out years ago.

My Thai caddies almost get moist when I flush this thing out there.....but I'm still to get it out to 235m

Assuming the popularity of a post is based on the number of likes, I have taken favourably to the idea of conducting “off the deck” lessons at golf central, Thursday feb 8, tickets are selling fast however with the opportunity to learn this valuable skill, meet other isg’ers, be part of the rap video we will be making and celebrating the best February 8th ever, why not join us. Look for the guy with the almost full bucket of practice range balls and the guy with the fashion blindness. See you there.

Ben,

Sadly I will be unable to attend this "once in a lifetime" opportunity.

Could you please let me know if this will be available on pay per view?

Kindest Regards,

Gaz. :(

We believe the subscription fees for PPV to be exorbitant. However the request has been made as a special concession to those unfortunate to not be able to attend.

Alternatively YouTube have confirmed their participation and have reserved he search keywords “bunch of wankers with no idea at a driving range” in anticipation of the video upload.

I just want to pull you up on that description of the wankers with no idea, Place, I think you are bit off the mark with that comment.

If there are only two of us, can we be classified as a bunch?

It’s a good point. I double checked the definition and the one I am most comfortable with suggests a bunch is a “group of people or things that are together or are associated with each other in some way”. As two people can be together I’d say we qualify as a bunch and ergo can be a bunch of wankers.
