HI guys,

Everynow and again I combine my limited running ability with my limited golfing ability in a hit of speedgolf. To my surprise I can play 18 holes in less than an hour and to be honest it doesn't effect my score (low 80's).

Last time I was doing it I thought that I might be interested in hosting a tournament as a novel event in country Victoria - about 2 hours West of Melbourne. I am hoping to gauge if there was any interest in the concept. Would people enter? Would people travel to the Ballarat area? Have flagged it with the committee and they would be interested in giving  me the course for it if I could give an indication of how many players - to be honest I don't know if I would have 10 people interested or 50 people interested.

Obviously it is not designed at the average member at my club the average age would be well in to the late 60's but I was thinking of staging it around March to capture the end of the athletics season and the footballers preseason training before we lose them to golf for the winter.

Any suggestions etc. appreciated.

Cool idea, I wouldn't have a clue if there is any interest but I have started hockey training after a 10 year break from running of any kind, so I might be interested if I am fit enough when it happens.

I grew up in Beaufort and keep my golf membership there - ran it past a couple of the committee there and they would support it. So 18 hole grass greens, roughly 5400 metres by card but when I do it 7km due to fairway cris-crossing. It only has a couple of bunkers and rough not too bad so not spending time looking for balls. I'm not a great runner (more of a plodder) but can get through 18 in between 52 and 62 minutes.

Still working on the format etc. and trying to get in touch with Speedgolf Australia through their webpage for advice and support so probably won't be able to get it up this year but looking at early 2019 (Feb-March) or perhaps late 2018 (Nov) if everything falls in to place quickly.

Will have to look at heat policy for the tournament though  B) .

Speedgolf Australia (Virginia Deigan) got back to me and informed me that the Australian Speedgolf Open is going to be played at Albert Park Golf Course on the first Saturday in March - starting at about 4.30pm. Grades for all levels of golfing and running abilities both 18 and 9 available. Pretty sure I'm free so looking at giving it a go and having a look at the logistics of running the event (pun intended).

Leading up to the event they are running social speedgolf on Wednesday evenings.

Info and entries aren't out yet but should be this week.

If I'm a lady you must be a post menopausal amputee considering the difference in our sporting ability.
