I'm old and so conservative. Some guys can go untucked and look ok. However, we have some slovenly members who've never looked in a mirror. Fat gut, shirt half tucked in, clothes and person a tad short of a good scrub.

We've also had what I assume to be a few guests rocking up in cargo pants and black socks. Time the club told them to go home and get dressed.

My fear is that if they don't give a toss about their appearance they may have the same attitude about caring for the course. Q

I hope the USPGA doesn't let standards drop.

On that point of setting standards it would be nice to see the leading professionals repairing divots.

I'm old and conservative too. I have a fat gut and tucking the shirt in just accentuates the bulges of fat whereas letting the shirt swing free allows the bulges to remain partially obscured. But only half tucked in is just plain sloppy attire.

Shorts with multiple pockets are quite useful. Camouflage patterns look stupid, but so too do some of those brightly patterned golf pants, yet they are supposedly fashionable.

As for sock colour, matched to the shoe colour (not necessarily identically coloured, just matched) would make far more sense than insistence on white. White socks with black shoes are certainly untidy.

If the pros aren't seen to be filling their divots, their lackies should be seen doing it for them, not just left for someone else to do it.

Do you tuck it in though? That’s the OP question.

I wouldn't want people to get the wrong idea.

On that point of setting standards it would be nice to see the leading professionals repairing divots.

People are employed to do it for them at some big events, I've seen little orange faced men running around repairing divots and singing a song for each player, doopa de do.

I've never been a member at a club that has allowed shirts to be un-tucked and have grown up with that simple standard. Tucked and neat looks so much better, regardless of your body shape. If being a fatso means you need to go un-tucked to feel better about your golfing attire then try loosing some weight. You will feel alot fitter and be able to wear the fashionable gear !
