From experience, if you are close enough to the ocean, you are also close enough to get a lung full of rotting kelp.
Then there is the fact that most days are fog affected, and damp cold, not to mention it is usually very wet and windy during an extended winter.
Yep, on a fine sunny day with a light breeze, it is a stunning location, but even in summer you can need a sweater. Like Mark Twain said about San Francisco - 'The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco' - and the Monterey Peninsula is no different.
As for the infinity pool, if it's not heated, you're going have an extra set of adenoids!
For a whole lot less, you could move to the Mornington Peninsula for better golf, the same crap weather, minus the fog and kelp!
