Might want to be a bit more specific about the type of surgery you're having mate

Having said that, this thread will most likely become an ISG mafia playground

Here, I'll start

Had a near full thickness tear in supraspinatus tendon, was considering surgery, opted out and just kept goin to gym, training lighter. Haven't had follow up scan to see how it is going, over two years now, but shoulder is stronger again, with only minimal aches every now and then.

I’ve had surgery to both my shoulders :

2011 (right) – Detached Labrum. Basically was being an idiot on the tennis court (we were trying to serve the racquet out of the opponent’s  hands – a game not recommended). I had arthroscopic (key hole) surgery to reattach tissue which was detached from the bone using miniature screws with thread attached. This was done through 3 tiny incisions around the shoulder while I was in la-la land by a very good /skilled surgeon. Some discomfort (no pain) post surgery, 3 weeks of physio and I was back to normal.

2015 (left) – Bone spur removal . Again arthroscopy thru 3 incisions (each leaving about 1cm long scar) for a camera, angle grinder etc. with the same surgeon. Slight discomfort post surgery and was cycling to work after 10 days.

Rotator cuff surgery for example is more serious and requires much longer recovery and rehab.

The detached labrum surgery had the unexpected but welcomed side effect of almost eliminating my slice – I’m not kidding;  while I started hooking wildly after the bone spur surgery

This was my experience, thanks to a very good surgeon.
