Using a swingers score in a 4BBB event was traditionally (in our club anyway) created when a partner didn't turn up.  Then, the low handicapper's score was used to team up with the remaining two players.  In effect this created two scores for the swinger.

We have discovered that this method of using a swingers score is not compatible with our scoring software, where only one score is created for the swinger.  Are all software programs configured this way, or can some programs create two scores for the swinger in a 4BBB event?

The only solution we have found is to get the swinger to mark their score on every hole that will produce a stableford point or more.

What do other do?

cheers............

Is the software incapable of handling the event or are the comp organizers not setting up the comp correctly. IN miclub the starters must enter the names in the correct order for the swingers scores to work correctly.

I understand that the player that finds himself without a partner is made a 'Swinger' so that his score gets paired with both the other two players.  This can only work if the swinger fills in his card as if he were playing as an individual, scoring on his card every hole.  The Swinger can only have one score and this score is melded with the other two cards in the group.  The software can handle this but getting the players to mark their cards in this way is difficult to achieve.

Not sure what the software is at my club, but YOU MUST ENTER AND COMPLETE THE SWINGER SCORECARD FIRST.  It will then give you the score card for one of the other players to complete.  You then fill in the 2nd players score card and it automatically pairs with the swinger.  If you put in one of the players first and then the swinger, it locks the other player out.

Thanks for those answers.  Someone also suggested playing 2BBB.  This works just fine with a swinger as everybody is playing as an individual and leaving the computer to marry up the partners to produce a team score.  Provided the swinger submits a full score card he can then be paired with any body that finds himself without a partner.  He doesn't have to actually play with his partner.

Gaud !!!!  anybody reading this that is not a golfer will be thinking we are discussing a Menage a Trois.
