Interesting QandA from two totally different viewpoints about equipment selections from the for and against camps.

Firstly I can attest to how properly fitted clubs will help you develop your game and the confidence with your equipment to progress.

PB's clubs were setup to his specs via his coach's request and what they're trying to develop for his swing and game plan. and seems to be working.

One thing that many fitters miss during the process is how the players irons interact with the turf ( not given any thought by the retailers ) so the head design is relegated to handicap or skill level.

This can be a big problem when the player actually needs some help to take or not take a divot. Are GI and semi GI heads designed for the low to average skilled player that needs alot of help to launch the ball ?

For the player that skies everything MB's or CB's might be the answer depending on how their angle of attack happens.

So to say that players should be stereo-typed with regards to their equipment because of either, handicap or skill level is just another myth used by to many uninformed sections of the golfing community !

Jon...

I do like that people who I have had no previous interactions with have an opinion on how much I have improved this year. I guess you're no one unless you're spoken about. I actually take alot of pride in the fact that some regard my genuine improvement as so unbelievable, that I must be cheating. One of the biggest compliments one could possibly receive and taken as such.

Thanks for the encouragement, and good luck with the purchase of your game improvement irons, I hope it helps your game in the future!

Whether you think you can, or think you cannot, either way you're probably right...

I suspect that if your 76 off the stick had been in a comp, and had made some impact on what you play off, then perhaps "people" would shut up. And who has suggested that you are cheating?

Or are you just speculating?

Being a burglar is not the same as cheating, just saying.

I'm sorry, I'm relatively new to the jargon of experienced comp players. My understanding of the words bandit and burglar are calling people cheaters? My best guess based on google searches is the golfing equal to sandbagging, but I would be lying if I knew that was the absolute definition. If I'm right, its a huge compliment towards me and taken as such.

If the only enjoyment someone has during their lives is when they are trying to put down others, so be it. Not my style.

Life is far too short to care what other people think about you.
