I'm with you on this one Papa. Except for the practice dedication and talent bit.

So why are gaming MP60's Mr played to 141?

I guess that's why it wasn't advice, it was just my opinion.

I bought "easy to hit" irons within the category of my handicap and struggled. I then bought irons that were targeted at better players, had them fitted properly, practiced and trained and got coaching and cut 14 strokes within 6 months of the change. Just yesterday within my first year of getting a golf link handicap, I shot a 4 over 76 off the stick.

By your logic, you are saying the option that I took was the worst option I could have taken and I could have cut more strokes sticking with cast, offset low cg choppers?

I think the operative statement in this poor advice is you had the second set properly fitted. Irons that are not fitted properly even if they are more appropriate for your handicap are not going to work well.

Practice & lessons are better spend than player irons

If you see a set of irons you like, buy them

If you see another set of irons you like, buy them

If you come across a great deal on a set of irons, buy them

Get CB's, get blades, get thicker toplines, get GI's.....actually...nah don't get GI's, they're hideous

You'll have all bases covers

It's good to cover bases.

For your price range you could get just about any set of irons on the 2nd hand market.

What you really need to do is work out what shafts best suit your game, and the lie angles your irons should be set at. What I mean by this is if you buy a 2nd hand set that are 2 degree upright, and you need 2 degree flat, you have wasted your money. Same with shafts, there are so many differences between even the same flex shafts it isn't funny. If you need Reg shafts, don't just think that any will do.

Personally I am in the same boat as you, but I know the specs I need from previous fittings etc. I am going to wait for a sale and purchase the new Cleveland CBX irons, which feel as good as any other irons on the market, get the ball in the air, and spin quite a lot for a fraction of the price of other irons out there. You could even mix match your set with a couple of the hybrid irons they have for 4 and 5 irons if you wanted.

Hi all
Going to have a bit more spare time over the next few months so looking to play a bit more often and think it's time for a new set of irons.

Appreciate any recommendations.

Low 20s handicapper and not looking to spend anymore than $600/700. Also a leftie.

Can get Taylormade rsi tp set in that range - are they are good?

Tks

Just get 7 hybrids and learn how to hit your driver 180m. Guaranteed to become a superstar.
