A good tip?

Hit the ball to the hole.  Sometimes they go in.

Next tip: seek professional help.  We can't do anything to help without seeing you in action.  Even then ....?

Watch the Kotahi vids on YouTube and then get one fitted.

Gripped properly you can't break the wrists which is the usual reason for missing short putts.

Trust me. I've missed more of them than anyone else on here.

Hi Brownman, as someone who has been there and touch wood out the otherside. Actually had 51 puts in one round down on relatively small greens at Barwon Heads. Putting destroyed the rest of my game as well - because if I knew I was going to 2-3 putt every green then you feel to pressure to knock everything stone dead.

Putting is simple accelerate the putter through the ball on the line of the hole, the problem is the head gets in the way.

I tried everything, I was OK with my cheat stick (belly putter) but that got banned so after that tried everything else, short putters, long putters, counterbalanced you name it I have tried it.

In the end went back to my tried and true 20 year old putter but still didn't have the confidence so changed it up with a thick grip to take the hands (or was that the head) out of the stroke. Now just by changing something up and focusing on accelerating through the ball on the line I am holing putts.

this worked for me - no guarantees for anyone else. But I would say clear the head of the advice everyone gives and simplify it down to putter square at impact, accelerate through the ball and practice.

Thank you very much B-B,in the light of day and cooler noggin i think you are correct,i have a cuppla putters so i might still thick grip down the track when desperation sets in again lol.Years ago when i first lost my sanity and took up golf,i inserted two 1/4" round rods about three inches long out the back of putter head 1 at each end of putter dead square to face,it gave me good indication of intended path,i might try that also,it would still be legal i think.cheers

If I am honest with myself -  I don't think it was the thick grip that did make the difference other than to change it up. I have since used thin grips on hire clubs  etc. with good results.

Also I had mucked around with face balanced putters, my old putter is heeled balanced and I had the observation that I aren't a true back and through putter but an arc putter. I do believe this helped rather than fighting against my natural swing line I used it.

I had lost all confidence with my putting and until I believed that I have done something to hole those short putts and the theory made sense to me - heel balanced putter with thick grip to take the hands out of the stroke.  I was atrocious and couldn't put a good stroke on the putts. Now if I am standing over anything under 10 feet I am thinking of holing putts not where I am going to miss them.

There is light at the end of the tunnel but a little work until then.

Goodluck.
