I'm extremely sad and angry at the same time.

It's about my best mate's daughter.

She and her partner try to have a baby with no success. At her age of 36 they try IVF and after more than 3 years of emotional turmoil they're advised to give it away.

One month later they conceive naturally. There must be a god. All is great and she gets to 19 weeks and past the normal critical stages.

On Tuesday, the day after a clean bill of health from the Gyno she starts to lose the child.

In hospital she's told that the baby is still alive but has zero chance of survival the decision is made to induce the birth and look after her health complications.

The hospital is church run and refuses to allow the birth to be induced so she's lying there with a baby about to die in her abdomen and the church doesn't care. Just offers a useless prayer.

Even when her water breaks they refuse to allow an inducement. Finally, her doctor arranges a transfer to a secular hospital.

The rest is an inevitable tearful story.

I spent the day crying with my best mate and his wife.

Meanwhile, Margaret Tighe and her fark wit mates in the right to life and their religious backers say a prayer.

Anyone, and I mean anyone, who is in anyway religious needs to take a good hard look at themselves and the crap their religion preaches.

Pedophiles, marrying 14yo, murdering Rohynga, cults. That's what religion is about and all that follow it have a serious lack of reasoning.

Compared to religion Kim Jong Un is a moderate. It's

It's not fair Ben and the farkin church saying they want to see the poor woman suffer for a day or two longer because of their dogma is a disgrace.

Doesn't ever happen to our pets. Probably, because they don't fund religion.

That's so sad Mouldy - to lose a child at any time is bad enough but after their struggles is especially sad

I almost agree entirely with your assessment of the value of religion, Rob.
But some people of lesser intelligence need guidance to help them through the trials and tribulations of an unfair life, because they can't figure it out for themselves and want someone else to blame.

My sympathies to your friend's family.

That is disgraceful if true. Tend to agree about religion. Probably the singular greatest risk to humanity.

Apart from banning the obvious radical, "warlike religion", I'd not given much thought to the problems that you've pointed out Mouldy.

I would have thought that the doctors ethical standards of saving lives would have trumped the hospitals religious beliefs ?

The banning of the Islamic religion and its practises should be something our state and federal governments are prepared to investigate and implement sooner rather than later ! It won't be long before Australia is targeted and we become just another terrorist site.

Saddened to hear of their loss and sorry that these places can still exist and operate with zealot religious views.

Sorry for the sad news

Not a fan of religion at ALL, the problem is not religion in its pure form.. it's the people who try to interpret THEIR own prejudices in it's name. They want to tell others how to live & die... Get Farked!

As much as I'd be happy if islam was banned, it won't happen and wouldn't be effective if it was banned. It didn't work for the Christians and even Hitler's more radical implementation didn't get rid of the Jews. They'd just go underground and we'd be more of a target for terrorism.

What is needed is for everyone to be on side and report & denigrate all zealots of any religion. Maybe we need an educational programme in our schools which shows that most conflicts through history have been caused or instigated through the excuses of religion.

F.uckt situation Mouldy. I'd be piss.ed off too

But.

Is it really the fault of religious dogma?

Doctor could have acted sooner to get the transfer completed. Your friends could have decided to act sooner. Sounds harsh n horrible in this context, I know, but, point is there were people making choices. Lots of people.

Yes, religious belief influence decisions, but, my point, is it the dogma to blame or the personal choice of the people?
