Just over one year ago, my friend Pete was walking home from a night at the pub.  He was hit by a minibus when crossing the road.  At the hospital he was pronounced brain dead.  Early 30s and with a wife and two little girls.

Ironically, Pete had lost a family friend recently and from that, jersey day was created to promote organ donation.  Pete was actively involved in promoting it and had of course registered for organ donation.

Most people are happy to have their organs donated but if you don't explicitly register it can be hard for doctors and family to see it through.

Pete's organs have now saved 5 other lives including some kids, and for his family, its the one thing keeping them going.  As his friends, we all agreed to continue promoting registration for organ donation, and with a lot of golf clubs doing jersey days this weekend it is timely.

I doubt that anyone would have a use for my old guts.

Except me, they're still working for now.

On September 5th, 13 years ago, my son's organs were donated, after we turned off his life support. We had only spoken to him a short time before, his assault, about donating. He was keen to do his bit even though he was 19 years old and probably never expected that we would have to pass on his wishes.

I say this, as you never know when it's going to happen, so get on the registry now and don't put it off.

And done too.
I am sure I was and have been explicitly clear to Bumpette that I want my body donated to a university, she said they won't want me, especially if my organs are gone.

And, I selected that I was promoted from family/friend, because that's who I hope it will benefit, if not my friend then hopefully someone's family or friend

Garage door spack filler.

But seriously there are a lot of things that are age irrelevant with the donations.
