Was anticipating that the thread title would lead to tales of bravdo and great workmanship by greenkeepers throughout Australia...... how deeply disappointed I was to read otherwise....

There probably haven't been any to talk about.

Except for tall tales.

You will note that I stated on the planet, not in Oz.  The current world population is a tick over 7.5 billion.   That means that on a basis average that in Australia , based on world population, that 1.8 M becomes .0007% of Australians played golf compared to the world population.  Given the populations of the majority of word golfing nations, I still reckon 1% of total population is pretty close.

That statistic need a bit of explanation.

Is that 1.8 million rounds of golf were played by Aussies 15 & over, or is it that 1.8 million different Aussies played at least one round of golf ?

Research!!!! what research?? numbers and mumbo jumbo.  I read in golf mag some time back that only about 1% of the worlds population actively play golf.  Seemed like a fitting time to throw up some useless info.
