What do you mean turns out? He is a crap putter.

Obviously, just trying to be nice.

He has dug so many holes in this place that every time he steps in one, ISG goes into "whack-a-mole" mode and smashes him.

Stupid people, much like dead people, have no awareness of their state of consciousness.......

The OEM have introduced alot of putter designs that have adjustable weighting systems now. That gives the opportunity to alter the length and grip weights to fit the individual for the feel aspect.
The normal big name "off the rack stuff" is still subject to customizing but the local retailer and your pro-shop won't or can't evaluate the putter before and after any alterations. So a new club when changed via length or grip weight doesn't feel the same as the original and if you choose to alter your existing putter it will get worse unless weight is added back into the right areas !
The ultimate custom fitted putter takes into account things like length, lie/loft, head weight, head design, grip size and grip weight to name afew obvious things that have to be assessed. Eg: If your putter was to be 2" shorter, 33" then the head weight might have to be 365 grams rather than the industry 325 gram standard.
Lots to consider when making a fitted putter for someone.

Thx for above info.
Seems like lots of focus from the OEM,s on driver fitting with flight scope, trackman etc, but vey few places to have a putter custom fitting taking into account all the fitting variables you describe.
Also do you have a view point on heavier putters for fast greens vs light putter for slow greens.

Hmmm good technical information flowing through, however I still have one, big burning question.

What if despite all the trials, customisation, and optimisation, Mouldy turns out that he is just a really crap putter?

Or what if he listens to all te advice and throws it all out?

As per normal

Today, in the freezing cold and wind, I had to get out of the houseful of tradies.

Went to GCO Oakleigh because Koiom said they had some Scotties. Nah, but they had some ultra cheap counter balanced putters. So putter number 7 has joined the asylum. Went to a practice green and it's a holing machine. Ball really springs off the face so no need for a long stroke (wouldn't suit Ink).

In a late change it has gained selection for the Laos / Cambodia Open. Just hope the greens are damp and not lightning.

Havent you been on SAM puttlab with Garth a time or time?
Didnt that tell you absolutely everything you need to know about your stroke, and what type, style putter should suit you perfectly?

Were has that info gone, im guessing in the rubbish?

In the lab everything is great - perfect SBST

He's a gun putter

On the course though ...

Well let's just say that anyone who can actually run away from a putt does have a putting stroke or putter set up issue

Here's a great kick-starter campaign for the Mouldster to get behind!

Just don't put money on them Moulds and they will almost be guaranteed success.

New putters always work exceedingly well, for about a month.  But it should be good for Indo-China.

Yes Geoff, I do have an opinion about lighter vs heavier weighted putters for different speed greens but it's diametrically opposed to your thinking.

I would always suggest the heavier putter for the slower and or winter paced greens and the lighter feeling putters for the faster/summer type of greens !

More head heavy help on slow greens for rhythm and a longer, smoother stroke and the lighter putters for feel and touch when the ball rolls out more on the RM concrete, super quick greens.

Jon...

ps: Arguably the one of the best putter fittings atm is with Adam at the HoG in the city ( he works for Kari in his spare time )

Tiger Woods used to add lead tape to his putter for slower greens, pretty sure he would add more tape the slower they were, so he didn't have to adjust his stroke.

I just gave CB80 the benefit of the doubt that he was engaging in one of his humorous ramblings about suggesting a light putter for slow greens
