OK, so this whole 'handicap' thing ... interesting thing today, on the notice board at the new home course were the results from the 'back marker' challenge (last Friday of the month - called the 'blue tee' challenge), so was the 30 June comp.

Winner played off 29, and shot a net 68 to win by 3. Runner up played of 10. 3rd place, one shot back, played off 7.

No handicap, and the winner would be none of them. :o

Best OTS was a 77 shot by a 1 marker, who came mid field at 20th place. ^_^

No handicap, no competition.

Or.

No Handicap and the 'best' wins on the day?

Hmmm.

No handicap and the one marker (well, he'd be a no marker then) would win more often than not. Only those near his skill would even bother with the comp.

What are the others going to do? Lawn bowls?

I'd think they'd probably play a 'social' round with mates, and because the 'comp' field would be smaller, the 'social players' would start to get more priority at the club as their numbers outweigh the 'comp' players.
