So, who will be donating to the fund to help pay for Pells legal costs?

FYI....I won't.

Pretty sure taxpayers of Vic will foot the bill. Considering his time served in the church. Unless Rome is funding it but I see the pope has distanced himself quite cunningly.

Yes he is.

Which makes me wonder why they need a "fund" to pay legal bills....just another Catholic Church scam if you ask me.

would your employer pay legal fees, if you were accused of any wrongdoing, whilst in their employment?????

Why is it different for the Vatican to have to pay, no scam, just normal practice.

Catholic priests are looked after physically and receive a small stipend but not much actual cash, today there is plenty of scrutiny of where the funds go so there is very little to no chance of any of them to take what they don't own.

Whilst Pell was looking after the finances at the Vatican there is no chance today of him funding his defence from Catholic Church funds if the Pope says no.

He was disliked in Brisbane, a few years ago he was up for Archbishop of Brisbane but local dissent put a stop to it. He has always had an unfortunate attitude and peed of many people in the church, there will not be much support for him, hence they will not help him financially.

No opinion if he is guilty or not, don't see how after all this time it can be proven one way or the other.
Intended to break 90 this year, not going well.

Concentrating just getting round the course

Priests are in a rather unique position when it comes to personal finances.
They are expected to not build personal wealth.
It would be like military personnel being only provided with 'pocket money' but have a job for life and, when they're old and frail, being looked after.

Pell would have had no reasonable chance to build up his bank to cover the legal costs.

His situation has arisen through his employment and his employer should meet the costs. It's not as though the church can't afford it.

Off topic, but how the hell did one judge score that 117 - 111 Horn. Insane. Considering the 9th round I had as a 10-8 to Pacman.

Good fight though. That was an old fashioned stoush.
