I'm getting pretty tired of buying new batteries for my el cheapo rangefinder. I go through probably 4-6 every year.

I realise you can get them for >$5 on ebay but it seems like a waste.

Has anybody ever bought a charger they would recommend? Do you need to buy special rechargeable CR2 batteries to use or can you use the normal brands?

I wouldn't go through more than 2 per year

I just buy Energizer branded ones from the chemist

Can't remember what they're worth but I'm sure they're not more than $10 a pop

Yeah I do that as well, bought 4 off ebay for $16 last time I think, but it still seems like a waste when there are chargers on ebay for $25ish.

How cheap was your rangefinder Mark?

Mine is a fairly cheap Pinloc 1000 and I certainly don't chew thru batts.

Can't remember the brand but it's a chinese cheapo, about 5 years old I think, cost approx $130 off ebay. I don't always keep it in the case either so it is probably on more often than it needs to be which would drain the batteries.

That wasn't the point of the question though.

Should I change the name of the topic to "How Long do you get from your Rangefinder CR2 batteries" seeing as that's the only thing anybody wants to talk about?

I haven't bought a recharger or rechargeable batteries for my range finder...as I've only changed the battery about twice in three years

I think it's fair to suggest that from everyone else's input, your rangefinder is a farkin POS and it won't matter what kind of battery you put in it

Said POS will suck the juice out of it like a hooker on payday.

At near enough to $10 each for standard batteries, I bought some Chinese ones on ebay but they didn't last long. So I bought some rechargeables with charger.

Then I realised that the rangefinder had a fault and it wasn't crappy batteries at all. So I bought a new rangefinder.

I now have a collection of new batteries, rechargeables and a charger and can't really tell you whether the rechargeables are worth it because I haven't had to replace one in the new rangefinder.

I play 3 to 4 times a week and use it often. The battery used to last a year in the old unit. Haven't had the new one long enough to require a replacement battery.

While none of that answers your main question, I can tell you that you can't recharge standard batteries, you need to use rechargeable batteries.

I can't answer your question either

Im pretty sure it's the fact that it is on sometimes when I leave it out if the case. I often just chuck it in the back of the car and if one of the buttons are pressed it will suck the juice. Sometimes the batteries last ages, other times not.

Again, not the point of the thread.

Is the point of the thread to highlight that you're too lazy to get the most of your your rangefinder's battery life?
