I am thinking of a "follow me" drone for my birthday next month and I had an idea to write some machine vision software to follow the ball as you hit it and fly as soon as the ball is hit and fly to roughly where it went (roughly of course because it could never really track, unless I integrate it with Flightscope mevo or something) while also filming your round.

Anyone think this would be a cool "ultimate golf toy" ?? The Parrot Bebop 2 Follow Me drone seems the best fit ... if integrating a Mevo it would be around $1500 all up for this toy.

The sound a drone makes in flight would the second most annoying thing I've ever heard on a course.

I certainly wouldn't want someone in my group using one.

Drones on a golf course would be an awfully long way from "cool"

We had one back in Summer that the guy who runs the cart garage and range cart used. He drove around the course in the cart with the damn drone behind him. We waited 10 minutes on the 9th hole for him to get out of the farken way.

I'm a no.

There is a guy at my club that has a drone  the phatom 4 ...he has had it on the course a few times now but he never does it during comp.... Also you have to take in the factor  if ya golf course is with in 5kms of an aerodrome  you will find ya will have the federal police knocking at the doors of the club.....there is many legal issues to flying one  specially if you are near people.

So i would say nope , great tool for te golf club to take photos and videos for their website but to allow  the average golfer to be flying drones  well i think it will annoy alot of people

I AM ALWAYS FORCED TO DO SH1T I'M NOT QUALIFIED FOR. LIKE BEING NICE TO BLOODY ID1OTS :P :D

It would be against the rules of golf to use it in a comp - unusual equipment.

But don't let that deter you from improving your toy box.

Well that will be the last time I ask for feedback on an idea!

Well that will be the last time I ask for feedback on an idea!

So you were hoping for feedback that agreed with you?

Fair enough if you want to get one and use it when no one else is on the course, but most people here are basing their comments on having to deal with some bloke using a drone while they are playing golf.

Do you think any club would let you use it on a Saturday during the main comp?

No wasn't expecting everyone to agree but some of the feedback and posts were far from "just feedback"

Also, sometimes people play on their own. Or with a group of friends without a comp. Not every golf round is about a comp or being sat morning.

You wanted feedback on the type of drone you're planning to use then?

I know some people play on their own, but you didn't specify that's what you meant, so you opened yourself up to people objecting to the use of one while they are playing golf, which mostly happens to be during a comp. I just used Saturday as an example to ask you the question.
