One of our Course Super members can elaborate.

 

I will take one example.

 

Suppose there is a patch of the green that is really bad due to some damage, natural or otherwise.

The course staff might elect a repair of this area by cutting a suitable section from a suitable place on the green. A suitable place is usually near an the green edge.

Greenkeepers often use a hole cutting tool to swap disks of worn grass on the green with good grass from the edge of the green.

Dearie me.  The blushing icon was meant to indicate a none too serious and perhaps rude*  thought as to the kind of activity we were being invited to visualise greenskeepers having to do.
