Hi all, it's Dean aka Codboy here. I feel compelled to talk about this in the hope it may help and perhaps save someone's health.

There is a very select few who are aware my beautiful wife Janette was diagnosed with breast cancer last September, she's gone through surgery, chemo and radiation and has completely recovered. I haven't worked since so i can nurse her through, it was the darkest period of my life. special thankyou to Rob Hardy for his guidance at the start, it was invaluable help and appreciated more than i can convey mate.

I'm doing this because as blokes we're oblivious to our health and just ignore signs our bodies are telling us. Janette plays golf and like all of us we have our aches and pains, she had a sore side for several weeks like a dull pain, she just assumed it was a strain. I nagged her to go to the doctor, next day she had breast cancer. It was grade 3 and very aggressive.

As the medics we had to get to our home during chemo said 'just ring us, nobody has ever died of embarrassment '

So please listen to your body, it may be trying to tell you something is up.

Cheers and beers
Deano

Brilliant news, I can't even begin to imagine the sense of relief the two of you must be feeling right now.

So sorry and so glad to hear of the result in the end Deano - was wondering who this tosspot "Lor of the River" was!

Glad that you insisted on Janette getting herself checked out when you did.

FYI - looking to head up to Yarrawonga at some point because we now have a camper trailer, and might hit you up for a catch up at some point in the in near future buddy.

You and the missus take care mate.

Awesome to hear! After losing 1 Aunty to BC, One Aunty close but got it early enough and losing both grandfathers to stomach cancer I can not wholeheartedly backup and agree with your announcement.

It is a simple check sometimes for everyone and early enough caught can be a basic treatment most times! For peace and mind for yourselves and your family just do it!

Sorry if I ranted a bit, just a bit of a raw nerve when it comes to cancer.

Back on topic again! Awesome news and hears to ongoing clear test results!

Glad to hear a 'good' story about breast cancer. Make sure she keeps tabs on it and keep feeling for the return of any lumps.

My ex-wife's family have been very prone to it.  All her aunts were lost to it at young(ish) ages.

A huge sigh of relief for both of you.  Great news and very glad that it all worked out with the best possible result.  But please make sure of regular check ups.   Don't wish to be a naysayer on such a positive outcome, but have lost two very close friends to BC after they were told all was clear.  One 3 yrs later and the other 5.  I pray that Janette is never as unlucky as they were.  Apart from that, keep fishing, take the golf doctors advice, and linger longer on the lager.

Deano,

That is great news that Janette is on the road to recovery.

For those of us who have seen or are going through seeing a loved one with cancer, it is a terrible thing to experience.

Wish you both well for the future.

Bully

PS. Will be playing Black Bull on the weekend of 23 Jun. My brother, father and I.
I'm not sure what my brother has planned for games, but if it's only the three of us, it would be great to have you join us if you are able to.
