I think it was yesterday, or 2 days ago , I spotted a thread in here about a new "training putter" with a laser pointer and spirit level bubble in the top.

It was the posters 1st post....and obviously his last. 

Gone!!!

Best drunk at a cooler temp. Recommendation is room temperature, but you have to remember that room temperature way back when was at around the 15/18 degree mark, where as now because of better insulation and other improvements in construction, room temp is around the 19 to 22 degree mark. So placing a red that is stored in an open area of the house in the fridge for 45min to an hour before opening to breathe allows for the contents to get to a cooler temp. This permits aroma's and varietal palate notes to intensify. Also softens the tannin when a bit cooler, so reds with a deep pepper or spice characteristic become just a tad more mellow. A warm red is not always a tasty red. Hence why wine fridges are set to between 15 to 18 degrees for reds, 5 to 8 degrees for whites, dependent upon the type of grape variety used, with sparkling at around 2/3 degrees.

I used to have a drinking problem, but since I found alcohol, water just doesn't cut it anymore.. :D ;)


Taylor's wines have these colour coded stickers you can stick to the bottle to make sure it is the right drink temp for the particular type. Very useful.

I'm about to undertake a minor Reno to Chez Mouldy. Naturally the storage and serving of wine is a focus point. A couple of must have appliances come to mind.

For storage you really need a constant temperature around 14 deg. Something like this takes care of your treasured possessions. An aesthetic presentation style of shelving stores 12 doz or so per unit.
